As many experts know, Spain
is one of the world's most highly ranked destinations for golfers, with
hundreds of excellent, top-class golf courses countrywide, including the
top ten golf courses in Europe as a whole. Golfers are definitely
spoiled for choice for great locations and if their partners, or children,
don't indulge in the sport, there is plenty on offer to keep them busy
too.
The following are just a
few of the great coastal locations to give readers a taste of golfing in
Spain. For more information on the best golf holidays and weekends away,

Costa Blanca
On the Costa
Blanca, or "white coast," in the Alicante province of the community
of Valencia, there are approximately twenty world-class courses and the
number one ranked golf course is La Sella golf course in Denia. Surrounded
as it is by the Montgo natural park, it is both a challenging course but
also a wonderfully scenic experience.
Yet another amazingly beautiful
course is Ifach golf course in Moraira in the Calpe area, with the stunning
"Peñón de Ifach" as an iconic backdrop. |
Costa del Azahar
Located in Castellon and opened in 1995, Panoramica Golf, Sport & Resort is definitely one of the best golf courses in Spain. It is located in the town of Sant Jordi, in a beautiful estate of carob and olive trees.
Meanwhile, Panoramica Golf is the only golf course in Spain designed by the German pro Bernhard Langer. You can stay in style just 10 minutes away from the golf course at Casa de Olivos in Traiguera.
Costa Brava, Catalonia
Next stop if the Costa
Brava, which is the home of ten world class championship golf courses
and is developing all the time with more. As this area has a mild
climate pretty much all year round, it is a popular destination for golfers.
With among some pretty amazing coastal views and mountain scenery, this
area becomes even more popular each year and with its close proximity to
the fascinating city of Barcelona, the coast offers the opportunity of
a combined sightseeing and sport holiday of a lifetime.
Just a few of the excellent
golf courses in this area are the PGA Golf de Catalunya Stadium, PGA Golf
de Catalunya Tour, Emporda Forest and Golf Platja de Pals.
Costa del Sol
The Costa
del Sol is not also dubbed the "Costa del Golf" for nothing.
This area in the south of Spain offers endless golfing opportunities along
with endless stunning beaches for that combined holiday experience.

La Cala de Mijas is a perfect
example, close to the Mijas coastline and just off the coastal highway,
the area is known as premier golf resort with three excellent courses to
choose from, one of which is pictured above.
Other great areas to visit
for that coastal experience are Fuengirola and Benalmádena, but
there are many excellent courses a little inland, with beautiful surrounding
views, like Monte Mayor in Benahavis or the Valderrama golf course.
Of interest also is the Aloha Golf Club in upmarket and popular Marbella.
Whichever location you choose
you are guaranteed a great golfing holiday, whether for a week or just
a weekend, and the family will thoroughly enjoy themselves too. |
