Hotel
Posada Del Valle is a small quiet country hotel with a cosy friendly atmosphere.
It is a perfect place to relax, surrounded by its own 12 acre farm, and
in privileged surroundings, close to the Picos de Europa and other Asturian
mountains as well as the beaches of eastern Asturias.
There
is excellent walking in the region, gourmet food, wild flowers, bird watching
and many other activities. At the hotel we have extensive knowledge of
the region and lots of specialist information available to help you fully
enjoy your holiday. In the hotel we operate a no-smoking policy, and guests
who smoke are asked to smoke outside the hotel. |
History
of Posada del Valle:
The hotel
was originally a priest's farmhouse constructed in stone and wood at the
end of the last century. It is built on to the side of a mountain on a
rock outcrop offering spectacular views of the mountains and surrounding
countryside, including the Picos de Europa, the Ponga Mountain range and
the Sierra del Sueve.
In
1995 it was purchased by its present owners Nigel and Joann Burch, who
converted it into a small family hotel. Whilst maintaining much of its
original character it has a very cosy atmosphere, with all the comforts
of a modern hotel.
Facilities:
On
the ground floor the stables have been converted into a comfortable lounge
with an open fire and a small bar for guests use. On the same level is
a glass gallery that forms the dining room overlooking the valley and the
mountains. On the first floor there is another lounge with a small library
and large windows.

Restaurant
at Posada del Valle:
The restaurant
at Hotel Posada del Valle offers excellent home cooking, with an imaginative
use of fresh regional produce. It is open exclusively for the hotel guests,
serving breakfasts and evening meals.
Breakfasts
consist of natural fruit juice, freshly baked bread and cakes, a selection
of cereals, fresh fruit, cheese or cold meats and coffee or a selection
of herbal teas. It served from 08.45 to 11.00 hours. For the evening
meal there is a set menu with 2 choices, which changes daily. It is necessary
to advise before 18.00 h. if you require the set menu. |

| We
cater for vegetarians and normally there is always a vegetarian option
(sometimes by way of choosing 2 starters.) It is however best to advise
if you are vegetarian before you arrive. At certain times of the
year we serve organic "Xaldo" lamb produced on the farm. This is an Asturian
rare breed and the meat is fibrous but tender with less fat and slightly
stronger in flavour. Local speciality cheeses, cold meats and smoked
fish are also available as well as home-made soups and salads.
Dinner is served from 20.30 to 22.00 hours.

Your
hosts:
The
owners and managers of Hotel Posada del Valle are Nigel and Joann Burch
and their son and daughter Sebastian and Samantha. Having lived and worked
in Spain since 1981 they have an extensive knowledge of the country, the
area, the people and their culture.
Nigel
a graduate horticulturist and Joann a professional chef enjoy looking after
you and helping you enjoy your holiday to the most.

| Guestrooms
In
total there are 12 bedrooms all with outstanding views. There are 6 doubles
in the original stone part of the building and 2 doubles, 2 triples and
2 suites in the new part.
All
the bedrooms have en suite bathroom, as well as television, telephone and
central heating.

Farm
and Garden:
The
hotel is situated in its own 14-acre farm on the south-facing slope of
a small valley. In the immediate surroundings of the hotel there are small
landscaped areas planted with a wide range of ornamental plants and various
terraces where it is possible to sit and relax enjoying the surrounding
scenery.
The
farm is an EEC registered organic farm. It is managed so as to maintain
and increase the diversity of flora and fauna and preserve traditional
farming practices. Part of the farm is dedicated to traditional hay meadows
and wild meadows where grazing is carefully controlled so as to encourage
the development of a wide range of wild flowers. |

Hotel
Posada del Valle is situated in the western part of the Asturian province,
which lies on the northern coastal strip of the Iberian Peninsula. The
Atlantic Ocean bounds it to the north, and the high Cantabrian mountain
range to the South, of which the famous Picos de Europa are a part. It
has the changeable weather associated with a coastal mountain region.
At
two kms from Arriondas, with it's excellent road communications, the hotel
is in a strategic position. It is an ideal base for discovering the mountains
including the Picos de Europa, the Ponga mountains and the Sueve range,
as well as the coastline of eastern Asturias, the river Sella and enjoying
the many outdoor activities available in the area.
The
beaches of Ribadesella and La Vega are 13kms, while Cangas de Onis 9kms,
serves as an excellent entrance to Covadonga and the Picos de Europa. The
river Sella is at 2 kms, and the Sueve mountain range is 4 kms.
