This Parador
is situated in the former "Piedras Albas" 16th Century Palace in the historic
quarter of Ávila, backing on to the impressive and historic city
walls. The hotel has a warm and intimate interior and a refresing
atmosphere. The beautiful decor includes granite and adobe floors,
spacious rooms and bright colours. Some bedrooms offer four poster
beds.
The Parador also features a garden containing archaeological remains, a
magnificent glass-roofed courtyard and a cafeteria. The hotel's restaurant
provides a beautiful view over the gardens and the city walls and offers
the 'pucheretes teresianos' (vegetable and pork stew), roast suckling pig,
veal chops, Judías de El Barco (local bean dish) and the excellent

This hotel
was the very first Parador and has been housed in this stone building in
the heart of the Sierra de Gredos since 1928. The natural area surrounding
the hotel has crystalline waters, green pine forests and rough rocks.
The position in Alto del Risquillo is a great vantage point over the Valle
del Tormes, the Gredos massif and the Piedrahita and Béjar sierras,
making it a natural lover's paradise. Inside the hotel the public
areas are spacious and comfortable and some of the bedrooms have terraces
with wonderful views, furnished in the traditional Castilian style.
In the restaurant, the quality of the meat and local vegetables and pulses

Located
in the highest part of the town of Lerma, this former Ducal Palace took
advantage of the site of a 10th century castle and was constructed according
to the plans of the architect Francisco de Mora in successive phases between
the years 1601 and 1617. The original palace was commissioned by
the order of the first Duke of Lerma, Francisco Gómez de Sandoval
y Rojas for the accommodation, rest and general enjoyment of his master,
King Philip III. The Parador has a central courtyard with columned
galleries. The gastronomy of the Parador is based on natural and
tasty produce grown locally including the cold meats such as the morcilla
(blood sausage) and the Burgos cheese. Enjoy the freshwater fish including
trout, and the arriero-style stews such as the ajo carretero or pastor,
usually accompanied by the traditional ‘Torta de Aranda’ bread.....

on the site of another 12th century monastery from the times of King Alfonso
VI, the San Marcos monastery-hospital was begun in the 16th Century.

The hotel
is a former Renaissance Castle, constructed under the order of Fernando
II of León, and was the seat of Las Cortes in 1202. Part of
the old town, set within the town's ancient city walls, it was almost destroyed
in 1808 during the Spanish War or Independence. However, the huge
Torre del Caracol (tower of the snail) survived, and it now has a lounge
with an impressive Mudejar coffered ceiling. The parador's interior
